BENGALURU: The chairman of two schools in the city will face police action for allegedly forging certificates to claim concessions reserved for minority institutions.
K P Gopalkrishna of National Public School, Bengaluru, has been named by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, Delhi, in a document recommending a police case. His schools allegedly used certificates with forged signatures and counterfeit seals to evade the Right to Education Act, which lays down that private schools reserve some seats for disadvantaged children. Following a complaint from P Kalidas Reddy, activist from Bengaluru, the commission has directed its secretary to approach Parliament Street police station in Delhi.
It has also directed its secretary to send all documents to the chief secretary and commissioner of Public Instruction in Karnataka, as well as to the CBSE authorities, for action against Gopalkrishna. The order says the complaint, dated 14 September, 2015, had brought to the commission’s notice how National Public School, Indiranagar, had submitted fake minority status certificates to the Karnataka government to gain exemption from RTE .
