Anticipatory Bail Granted in Alleged Copyright Violation Case

BENGALURU: A sessions court in the city has granted anticipatory bail to three people in connection with a copyright violation case. The accused Bhaskar Reddy, representative of Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Sandeep Sinha, Kavuri Hills, Hyderabad, and Rohit Samuel from Bengaluru have been granted bail.

The XLIX Additional City Civil and Sessions Court judge B Muralidhara Pai granted  bail imposing a condition that they shall be released on bail on executing a bond for `25,000 each, along with surety for like sum. The accused have also been asked to appear before the investigating officer on or before February 8.

Jalahalli police had registered a case against them based on a complaint filed by Soumya Halder, Law Officer of Phonographic Performance Ltd. Soumya alleged that Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd, represented by Bhaskar Reddy, in connivance with Sandeep Sinha and Rohit Samuel, had organised an event at a hotel in Gokula Extension on December 11, 2015 where they allegedly played copyrighted music of her firm.

The accused contended that the allegations are baseless and the complaint was lodged to harass them.
