Bangalore University conducts 51st annual convocation

BENGALURU: The Bangalore university has conducted the 51st annual convocation on Tuesday where over 44,822 students are eligible to get their degree certificates during convocation. Among these, 24,318 students are women. Among 163 PhD students are 90 men and 73 women.

The Governor and Chancellor of state universities Vajubhai Vala handed over the degree certificates and gold medals to the candidates, where chairmen of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Anil D Sahasrabudhe delivered the convocation address.

State higher education minister TB Jayachandra was present along with other officials of the university including vice chancellor. During his convocation address, AICTE chairmen said, "There is a need for colleges and universities to improve industry linkage and also to concentrate on research and innovation."

He also advised the universities to establish linkages with top international universities for faculty and student exchange. "Universities and colleges can invite faculties from foreign universities for a semester, develop collaborations with other universities and research organisations in India to better utilise each other strengths," he said.
