BENGALURU: Rajya Sabha elections to four seats in Karnataka on June 11 will go ahead as scheduled with the Election Commission deciding against cancelling the polls, saying money power has not vitiated the process so much to warrant such a step. But it has asked the CBI to probe the sting operation, where MLAs claimed to vote for RS candidates for monetary favours.
It also directed the State Commission to file an FIR against JD(S) MLA Mallikarjuna Khuba, who was seen demanding `5 crore to vote in favour of a candidate in the sting operation. It said Khuba “may also be deemed to have committed an offence” under the Prevention of Corruption Act for seeking bribe for electing a member of the RS.
