Photo exhibition focuses on untold tales

BENGALURU: Students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology hosted a two-day exhibition of their art works and photographs themed on ‘untold stories’.

The exhibition held at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath opened on Wednesday at 11 am.

The student designers have drawn inspiration from a variety of artworks.

Well-known photographer Sudhir Ramachandran, former professor of architecture at UVCE Pushpa Dravid and managing trustee of the design institute Nealesh Dalal inaugurated the show.

“Photography is not as easy as it seems to be. You must step out of the bed, walk in the mess and practice to achieve perfection,” said Ramachandran.

Over 60 set of photographs with accompanying narratives were exhibited, drawing about 200 viewers on the first day. Those depicting a mother’s love, a baby’s first steps the joy of a woman expecting a child and a wedding picture were among the pictures that stood out.

“Such a platform is a great opportunity to experiment and showcase our talents,” said Amit Prabhu, who captured the tiger cubs at Masai Mara and other shots in Varanasi.

Mehul Bhandari’s clicks took viewers to a lesser-known Shimla.

“The hill station is known for tourism. But we found some beautiful artworks there on the verge of dying,” he said.

Vivek and Shashank’s project reused ‘scrap items’ like a table, wine holder, a scorpion and a few chairs.
