

BENGALURU: Pandit Jasraj is a living legend hailing from the Mewati Gharana in Hindustani vocal genre. Born into a family of musicians, it was natural that young Jasraj imbibed the finer aspects of music.
He spent the early years as a percussionist and soon became a singer. His father Pandit Motiram initiated him to music but it was Maniram, his elder brother, who mentored young Jasraj. .
Bestowed with a voice, that passes the three and half octaves, Jasraj grabbed the attention of music lovers.
The rise of Indian entertainment industry attracted many talented musicians of the early 1960s. Jasraj was no exception. But he realised it was not his forte and continued his practice in classical music.
Pandit Jasraj, will perform with Hariprasad Chaurasia at the amphitheatre in Orion Mall, tomorrow, at 7pm.
