Plans to Extend SPC Project Across Karnataka

BENGALURU: The Home Ministry will propose to the state government to extend the Student Police Cadet  (SPC) project to all the schools in the state, said Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara. He was speaking at the inauguration of summer camp for the student police cadets held at the Kanteerava indoor stadium, on Wednesday.

“As of now only 40 schools are offering this programme. As this is a pilot project, after going through the results, it will be extended to all the schools in state,” he said.

“The constitution has provided both rights and duties to citizens. But, today’s youth only speak about their rights and not duties. ,” he added. 

Speaking on the occasion, K S Sathyamurthy, Commissioner, Department of Public Instruction said, “There are over 1.1 crore children studying from 1-10th standard in schools across the state. The education department is all set to make a pact with the police department to extend the project across the state. The programme should be made mandatory in government, aided and un-aided schools too.”

‘No Club in Carlton House’

Reacting to the proposal to shift CID from Carlton House, Home Minister said, “Considering secrecy, security and possibility of leakage of sensitive investigation files, it is not appropriate to shift the CID office to any other government building.”
