City breeder claims to have largest labrador in the world

BENGALURU: Cadabom's Stuck in Dance is a large, golden labrador. It's owner and breeder S Satish says that this friendly fellow can make it to the Guiness Records. It's not for his long name, but his size. “He is the largest labrador in the world,” says Satish, who runs the Cadaboms Kennels.

The average male lab is 22.5 to 24.5 inches tall, but the one Stuck in Dance is 26-inches or 2.1-ft tall. Satish also had his length measured, from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail, and it is 64 inches.

He is 5.3-ft long. And he is just 11 months old, so he'll grow bigger because labradors usually do even into their second year.

Satish is sending his lab's entry. “The largest now is a Great Dane mix,” says the breeder who has around 28 labradors and many other breeds on his seven-acre farm.

The Dane-mix, named Zeus, is from Michigan and is 3.7-ft tall. There are various categories in which dogs have made records — for the fastest to save a person from water, for catching the most number of balls and even for having the longest ears. Satish's lab, he hopes, will make it as the largest in his breed.

Cadambom Stuck in a Dance gets its name from the kennel and also because “longer names are impressive,” says Satish. The dog has a shorter pet name, Bruno.  His father is Cadabom Smart Guy and his mother Cadabom Excellent Baby. His grandfather, on his father's side, is Champion Cadabom Maidens Moonbeam.

“I imported four or five pups and bred the family,

but I made sure they come from different lines... There is no inbreeding,” says Satish.

He was in news this March for importing two pups of a rare breed — Tibetan Lionhead Mastiff — for `1 crore each. Dog lovers called foul saying that the Indian climate is not suitable for the breed.
