BENGALURU: A 22-year-old BBM student died on the spot after a speeding BBMP garbage truck rammed into his motorcycle at Yediyur junction in Basavanagudi on Sunday. Reckless driving by truck driver is said to be the cause for the mishap.

The deceased has been identified as Suhas Bhat, a first-year BBM student at a private college. He was also working part-time with a private firm. He was a resident of JP Nagar 9th Phase and his father Sudeendra Bhat, is a DRDO employee.

Police said the incident occurred around 5.45pm on Kariyappa Road in Basavanagudi when Suhas was returning home after meeting friends.

The speeding truck, carrying garbage, hit his motorcycle from the left. Suhas was crushed under the lorry and died on the spot. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
