Bengaluru-based Biocon files case against conmen who used vice-chairman's name for job racket

According to the complaint, the offer letter is being sent to various job aspirants and money is being collected by using John Shaw's name.

BENGALURU: Bengaluru based biopharmaceutical company- Biocon Limited has filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against unknown persons for allegedly creating fake email IDs and issuing offer letters for money in the name of its Vice Chairman to cheat people.

The complaint was filed on Wednesday by John Shaw, Vice Chairman of Biocon. According to the complaint, the offer letter is being sent to various job aspirants and money is being collected by using John Shaw's name. Some unknown persons have created fake email ID’s shawjohn379@gmail.com and john@bioconlimited.org. 

Though this had been going on since July 11, it only came to the notice of the company more than a month later when some aspirants approached the company with offer letters.

The CID has registered a case under sections 66 (c) and 66 (d) of IT act 2000 and IPC sections 419 and 420 and investigations are underway.
