BENGALURU: Following Kannada actor Shivaraj Kumar’s complaint, city police have directed to enforce one-way traffic near Manyata Tech Park during evening hours on weekdays.
On Tuesday, the actor, along with members of the Manyata Residency Welfare Association, met Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy. They had complained that heavy traffic in the area was causing problems to the residents. Reddy had inspected the area on Thursday.

Orders were issued to implement one-way traffic from Gate 3 to 5 of the Tech Park between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm by City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar on Friday, with immediate effect. A total of 34,095 vehicles including 19,787 two-wheelers, 9,387 private cars, 4,499 cabs, 303 tempo travellers, 24 buses run by various firms, and 95 BMTC buses ply on the road from 5 pm to 9 pm on weekdays, the
police said.

The order states that the vehicles pass through Gate no. 1, 2 and 3 towards Gate no. 5 to exit from the Tech Park. As Gate no. 3 and Gate no. 5 are very much in the residential layout, the increased vehicle population was inconveniencing residents who struggled to come out of their locality during peak hours. As a result, a decision was taken to make the stretch from Gate no. 3 to Gate no. 5 one-way on weekdays between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm. Sources said the move was a stop-gap solution, and police would decide on a permanent solution after meeting all the stakeholders.
