Bengaluru teen jumps to death from 18th floor of friend's apartment complex

BENGALURU: A 17-year-old youth committed suicide by jumping off the 18th floor of an apartment complex block in Whitefield in Kadugodi police station limits on Wednesday. He texted some of his common friends and a female friend before ending his life. However, there was no suicide note, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Polash, son of Pradeep Chowdhary. He was studying in PUC in a private college in Varthur and his father is a software engineer in a private firm. The family lives in an another apartment complex in the same locality.

Police said the incident took place around 3.30am on Wednesday when Polash had gone to visit the female friend at Prestige Shantiniketan on ITPL Road in Whitefield. He arrived there at 3 am and called her over phone. The friend spoke to the security guards and insisted that Polash be allowed to her 17th floor flat.
The two reportedly had an argument over his proposal. After she rejected it, he sent her a message saying, “What is life without you. Nobody loves you like me and this is my last message”. He also forwarded the message to some common friends.  Then he went to the 18th floor and jumped to his death. Though access door to the roof was locked, Polash managed to reach there, police said.

The residents who, heard the sound, alerted security guards and Kadugodi police were informed. Police recorded the statement of the youth’s father Pradeep who said that he was depressed but had not revealed anything before he left home.
