4 National Awards for Kannada films

The Kannada film industry won four major awards at the 64th National Film Awards announced on Friday. Manohara K was adjudged Best Child Artiste for his role in ‘Railway Children’.

BENGALURU: The Kannada film industry won four major awards at the 64th National Film Awards announced on Friday. Manohara K was adjudged Best Child Artiste for his role in ‘Railway Children’.

‘Reservation’ won the award for Best Feature Film in Regional Language. ‘Allamma’ directed by T S Nagabharana received two awards — Best Music Direction for Bapu Padmanabh and Best Make-Up Artist for M K Ramakrishna.


Director of ‘Railway Children’ Prithvi Konanur said that Manohara was a deserving artist. “I knew it from Day 1 that this boy will be noticed for his performance and I had told him too,” he said.


Manohara recently completed his Class 9 exams and is at present staying with his uncle in Gowribidanur. Manohara said, “I am very happy and what is more exciting that the director had predicted this award.”
Manohara said he wants to pursue acting after completing his studies.


Railway Children will be premiered at the European Film festival and then released in Karnataka.
