BENGALURU: In order to tighten the security system at Lokayukta office after Justice P Vishwanatha Shetty was stabbed by a complainant, a new security measure — the photo ID system — has been introduced for visitors from Friday. Now, it is compulsory for any visitor wanting to meet any official in Lokayukta office to have this ID.

If anyone wants to visit either Lokayukta, Upa Lokayukta or enquiry officials, it is now mandatory to obtain photo-ID from the reception. As soon as the person enters, the staff captures the photo of that person through the machine set up at the reception, while other details such as name, from where they are coming and who they want to meet, mobile number, etc., are also noted.

A photo ID will be generated by the machine installed at the premises. This will be given to the visitor who has to wear it. After this, the security personnel check visitors with a metal detector before allowing them inside the offices of Lokayukta.

If the visitor want to meet Lokayukta, they have to meet Lokayukta’s Secretary, who in turn, communicate it to the Lokayukta. If he permits, then he or she will be permitted to meet, after frisking them again. Inside the chamber of Lokayukta, a gunman will be present till the visitor comes out of the chamber.
It is must for the visitors to return the photo-ID to the security personnel at the reception while coming back. The visitors will be allowed inside the office with files/case papers and not their bags.
