Hoax bomb call at Bengaluru IT park creates panic

The miscreant is believed to have made an Internet-based call and threatened that an explosive was fixed at the premise and it would detonate within ten minutes.

BENGALURU: Tension prevailed at the Embassy Tech village, Outer Ring Road, Devarabisanahalli near Bellandur after a threat call was received by the staff of CISCO company and about 7,000 employees were evacuated immediately.

A senior police officer from Whitefield Sub Division along with a dog squad rushed to the spot and after thorough inspection came to the conclusion that it was a hoax.

Abdul Ahed, DCP Whitefield said that the call was received by CISCO staff around 1 pm and the caller was speaking in Hindi. He threatened that an explosive was fixed at the premise and it would detonate within ten minutes.  

"After we received an alert the evacuation commenced and bomb squad started checking, a standard operating procedure. It was conducted in and around the premises and we came to conclusion that it was an hoax call." 

The miscreant is believed to have made an Internet-based call "Thus we have contacted Cyber crime police to ascertain the details of the caller and a special team has been formed to nab the accused. The exact motive behind the hoax will be ascertained once the arrest is done," he said.
