BENGALURU: Film producer and distributor S A Chinne Gowda was on Tuesday elected new president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC). He won by 551 votes against his closest rival Mass Suresh who managed only 317 votes. The elections were held amidst high tempers as several altercations were reported on Tuesday which led to the process going on late into the night.
Producer Kari Subbu, distributor K Manju and exhibitor Ashok K C were also elected as vice-presidents of the chamber. The new electees are likely to take charge on Wednesday as outgoing president Sa Ra Govind reportedly gave his farewell speech on Tuesday night asking the fraternity to support the new officials.
Chinne Gowda, younger brother of Parvathamma Rajkumar, is the father of Sri Murali and Vijay Raghavendra, both actors. His brothers S A Govindraj and S A Srinivas are also producers in the Kannada film industry. Chinne Gowda is best known for acting in Jwalamukhi with Rajkumar and in Sri Harikathe with his younger son Sri Murali.
The post of treasurer of the chamber will be handled by producer and actor K M Veeresh, sources from KFCC said.
