BENGALURU: A stage will give 20-minute slots for a performance, open to any artiste, at the '20 Minute Mergence Arts' summit.“This is the third edition of the festival. We have invited artistes from all over India, to put forth their work be it painting, dancing, singing or digital art,” says Raghuram Krishnan, co-founder of  ShArA - Salsa & Latin Dance Institute, South Bengaluru.

Five acts have been slotted this time, on a  first come first serve basis. Artistes from as far as Maharashtra and Kolkata will be part of the event.“We have a Sarod and Tabla concert by a Kolkata based duo. Another artist from Maharashtra, will be giving a demonstration of figure and image drawings on the ground, made from Rangoli,” says Raghuram, who will also be performing a salsa dance with co-founder Archana KR and another team member.

He is keen to remove any kind of difference that exist within various dance forms such as Latin dancing and Bharatanatayam, and those that exist between different art forms such as singing and painting, by giving everyone a chance. The main idea, however, is to encourage and give a free space to artistes who may not get invited to put up their work or have to pay to do so.

At the same time, the audience will also get to see a potpourri of art forms on one stage. The last two editions that took place in January and February, saw a crowd of 35 to 40 people. The earlier artistes were again varied, ranging from a micro artist from Chennai who made car models and other shapes
out of pencil lead, an architect who did a presentation on light and spaces, to a non-professional poet who recited shayaris.

The event is taking place at  ShArA - Salsa & Latin Dance Institute, South Bangalore, from 5 to 7 pm on June 30. The interested audience can book tickets of Rs 250 per head on eventshigh.com
