BJP, JD(S) men protest against delay in arrest of Mohammed Nalapad Haris

BENGALURU: BJP and JD(S) workers staged a protest in front of the Cubbon Park police station for the second day on Monday accusing the police of deliberate delay in arresting Mohammed Nalapad Haris.

Shouting slogans against the police and MLA N A Haris, the protesters demanded the resignation of Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy for the failure to arrest Mohammed Nalapad even 36 hours after his “murderous attack on the youth Vidvat.”

The situation turned tense when Congress workers and supporters of N A Haris too gathered on the opposite road of the police station to counter BJP and JD((S) protesters.The huge gathering disrupted traffic on the busy Kasturba Road, MG Road and the surrounding areas.Though Mohammed Nalapad surrendered to Cubbon Park police a little while later in the day, the protest continued as they accused the police of “giving VIP treatment to the accused.” The police had to resort to mild caning to disperse the protesters.

REDDY ACCUSES BJP OF ‘DOUBLE STANDARDS’

Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy hit back at BJP by accusing it of double standards. “Why didn’t BJP leaders protest when an attempt to kidnap and threat to life case was filed against the personal assistant of BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa N R Santosh by a personal aide of BJP leader K S Eshwarappa N S Vinay,” Reddy questioned.

“BJP leaders are known for their double standards,” Reddy said and denied “any special treatment for Mohammed Nalapad to shield him,” Reddy said and denied “any special treatment for Mohammed to
shield him.

Opposition to use issue to corner Siddu government

Bengaluru: The assault case involving Congress MLA N A Haris’s son has presented a potent issue for the Opposition BJP and JD(S) to corner the Congress government ahead of the Assembly polls. BJP will raise the issue in both the Houses of state legislature on Tuesday.Leader of the Oppposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar told  TNIE, “Our contention that law and order in the state is in tatters and ‘Goonda Raj’ prevails has been proven right yet again. Congress leaders and their sons have no fear of law.”
