Girls outshine boys in CBSE classes 10 and 12, Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 and 12 results, which were announced on Friday, show that girls have outshined boys in the examinations yet again. 

Girls’ passing percentage for class 10 exams was 94.25% while it was 92.27% for boys. For class 12, the margin was bigger. Girls outperformed boys by 6.01%, with girls’ pass percentage recorded as 90.68 % while that of boys’ capped at 84.67% in the country.

Girls in Karnataka also scored better. As per CBSE data, girls in the state recorded a pass percentage of 99.06% while it was 98.26% among boys. In Bengaluru, the overall passing percentage was capped at 97.76%. 

Even for the last academic year, girls had exceeded boys’ pass percentage by a margin of 1.41%, which has increased this year for class 10 students as well as for class 12 from 3.20% to 6.01%. 

The principal of Jain International Residential School, Bengaluru highlighted, "Students’ individual performance has improved this year, despite the gap due to online classes for almost two years, when schools opened and closed several times during the pandemic."
