BENGALURU: With summer showers expected to lash the city any time and monsoon not far behind, the Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has taken up a desilting drive of its stormwater drains in Yelahanka, Hebbal and other areas.

The civic body said the aim is to ensure uninterrupted water flow and reduce waterlogging during rainfall. Officials in the stormwater drain department said KSFC Layout and Lingarajapuram in Sarvagnanagar constituency, Kogilu Circle in Yelahanka division and Hebbal, Kempapura and Devinagar in Hebbal constituency were taken up.

“Heavy rains in BNCC areas comprising Hebbal and Nagavara valley and cloud burst in North Bengaluru have resulted in flooding of Kogilu Cross, Jakkur near Yelhayanka, Byatrayanpura and Manyata Tech Park in Hebbal. To contain floods, the entire stormwater drain network is being desilted,” said an engineer.
