BENGALURU: Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao on Wednesday instructed officials of the Central City Corporation to prepare an action plan for the comprehensive development of KR Market and set a deadline for completion of work.

Rao, who visited KR Market, said the action plan should include proper waste disposal, installation of CCTV cameras, white-topping of internal roads and providing easy access to the flower market. “Submit the plan within a week,” Rao told the corporation officials.

He directed the officials to install CCTV cameras across the market for the safety of the people. “Internal roads are in poor condition and they should be white-topped at the earliest,” he said.

Inspecting the KR Market Junction, where asphalting work has been completed and a service road built, he told the officials to open the junction for vehicles from the flyover down ramp soon.

Representatives of the KR Market Vendors’ Association informed Rao that absence of easy access to the flower market caused inconvenience to visitors. Rao inspected the flower market and instructed the officials to provide proper access to it.

The officials informed Rao that a plan has been prepared for scientific disposal of waste. Trolley bins and baskets will be kept for waste collection in vegetable, fruit and flower markets. Sheds will be built for waste collection.
