BENGALURU: It seems the much-awaited Ejipura flyover project may miss its June deadline and is likely to be opened for motorists only in August. The project has already missed its deadline in March due to issues related to land acquisition and transfer of engineers.
Engineers at the site say the work is going on at a brisk pace, and the flyover will be opened for the public in August.
The work was started by SIMPLEX Infrastructure in 2017 but the agency later abandoned the project.
Transport Minister R Ramalinga Reddy had exerted pressure on the government for the completion of the project and selected Hyderabad-based Bollineni Seenaiah Company Private Limited (BSCPL) to complete it in 2024 with a 15-month deadline.
The 2.38-km-long flyover on Ejipura Main Road will have a total of 762 segments to be cast for the flyover once the project is completed.
“We have around 20 segments to be fixed, but that will take a few weeks as pier works have just begun at St John’s Junction,” said the engineer and added that the upper ramp and down ramp work from the Domlur Side of the Flyover and Kendriya Sadan have begun. The soil settling will take time, interlocking sidewalls are being erected and then bitumen will be added to the upper ramp and down ramp.
However, Nitin Sheshadri from Koramangala 3rd Block Resident Welfare Association, said the work has been delayed even for minor reasons. If not August, it will be opened by Deepavali in October.
