BENGALURU: A witness in a sexual assault case against former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna has alleged that she has received threat calls over phone from people claiming to be his supporters. Following this, a Special Court on Thursday directed the Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the alleged threat calls and submit a report.

The case relates to allegations that Prajwal sexually harassed and assaulted a woman who worked at a residence in Holenarasipura in Hassan. The 43-year-old social worker is one of the witnesses in the case.

The court’s direction came after the witness told the court that she had received threatening calls from people claiming to be supporters of Prajwal Revanna. She alleged that the callers warned her not to testify against him and threatened to “teach her and her son a lesson” if she gave evidence against the accused.

The witness also told the court that Prajwal Revanna and others would be directly responsible if anything happened to her or her son. Taking the allegation seriously, the Special Court to try cases against sitting and former MPs/ MLAs directed the SIT Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) to conduct an inquiry and submit a report.
