BENGALURU: Madiwala police arrested six people, including a rowdy-sheeter, in connection with the murder of a medical shop owner, Syed Suhail, who was hacked to death in public on Madiwala Main Road on Saturday night.
The accused have been identified as Adil Kamal (35), a rowdy-sheeter from the Bandepalya police station; Yasin Shariff (22); Abbas Shariff (24); Afivuallah (26); Shan (23); and Syed Farhan (24). All the accused are residents of Mangammanapalya.
According to the police, Suhail was heading home when he stopped at a traffic signal on Madiwala Main Road. The accused, who were riding two-wheelers, surrounded him and attacked him with machetes before fleeing the scene.
A murder case was registered, and three special teams were formed to nab the accused. Based on technical evidence, the police traced the accused near Kempegowda International Airport Road on Sunday night, who were allegedly planning to flee to Mumbai in Maharashtra, and took them into custody.
The police said Suhail’s brother had been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Shabbir, who was a close aid of Adil, in Bandepalya in January early this year. Suhail is suspected of having provided financial assistance in the murder. The police suspect that his killing was an act of revenge, and that Adil, along with his associates, had planned the murder.
