

CHENNAI: It was a confluence of musicians that graced this brand new music store in Nungambakkam. Louis Banks and Sivamani inaugurated the Yamaha Music Square, an exclusive store for Yamaha music instruments and accessories in Nungambakkam on Thursday. The launch kick started with jamming by the percussionist and Jazz artist, joined by musician Madhav Chari on the piano. The Music Square is launched by Nippon Group in association with Yamaha Music India.
The outlet, near Sterling Road, has everything that a musician needs - grand pianos to the latest digital pianos and upright pianos. Others include wind instruments like saxophones, trumpets, a range of guitars, violins, keyboards and drum kits and many more for a professional as well as an aspiring musician to choose from.
Yamaha Music Square also boasts of a world-class home theatre system and audio systems.
Nippon is the distributor of home theatre and AV products across India and is the core dealer of musical instruments and audio systems in the state. "We have a large market for keyboards in India. Our aim through Yamaha Music Square outlet is to market acoustic pianos and digital hi-end pianos,” said RR Arora, assistant General
Manager, Yamaha Music India. The launch has also brought in an exclusive Indian version of keyboard namely the PSR-I 425 that has incorporated sounds of more than a 100 Indian instruments and is sold only in a few countries. “We have launched our outlet in Delhi and now in Chennai. Soon, you can expect outlets in Gurgaon, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh before the end of this year,” informed Kozaburo Kume, Managing Director, Yamaha Music India, adding that they also have plans to open outlets in other cities like Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy.
Besides the musical treat that the musicians offered, they also vouched for brand Yamaha as one the best in the music industry. “Yamaha is one the best in business,” Louis Banks shouted aloud after he entertained the gathering with Sivamani.
“There were days when I used to travel abroad to buy the products. Today, I am happy to see them available here. I have been using Yamaha products like the mixers and drum kit,” added Sivamani.
To expand its music business in India, the Nippon group is also planning to start a Yamaha School of Music in collaboration with Yamaha India Limited. You can visit Yamaha Music Square store at Sivaganga Road, off Sterling Road, Nungambakkam.
