CHENNAI: Special Court for CBI cases granted three days police custody of R Sekar, Protector of Emigrants, Chennai, Anwar Hussian, a clearance agent and Ravindar Babu, trustee, Andhra Pradesh Student and Parent Welfare Trust, here on Tuesday.

CBI arrested Sekar and Answar Hussian while handing over capitation fee of Rs 13 lakh to Ravindar, trustee, in Ashok Nagar on Monday.

The CBI produced the three in the court and requested for their police custody for four days.

House break-in at Thuraipakkam: Gold jewellery and silver articles were stolen from a retired secretariat employee’s house here on Monday. Sources said Ramasamy (59), a resident of Secretariat Colony in Thuraipakkam, a nd his wife locked their house and went to Adyar for shopping in the afternoon. When they returned home, they found the back door grill broken and more than 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery and silver articles missing from the bureau.

Fibre boats:   Two fibre boats and fishing nets were destroyed in a fire at Thideer Nagar in Kasimedu Harbour on Monday. The police said the boats and nets were kept near a tent that was used to store fishing equipment. Around midnight, the tent caught fire, which spread to the boats and nets. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Boy electrocuted:  A four-year-old boy was electrocuted at his house on Mudaliar Street at Otteri on Monday. Sources said Thamizharasan, son of Rajkumar (38), a bank employee, was playing with a chain at his home and it got caught in the blades of a table fan kept nearby. When he tried to pull it out, he received an electric shock and was thrown to some distance. He was admitted in Kilpauk Medical College, where he died.

Pirated CDs seized: Chennai: The police arrested two men and seized more than 2,000 pirated CDs from them on Monday. On receiving information that a music shop in Anna Salai was selling pirated CDs of Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films and porn movies, the police raided the shop and seized around 2,300 CDs and arrested Sulaiman (34) and Mohammed Mustafa (22).
