

IT was a different music for singers when they walked on the ramp. Along with female models, singers Benny Dayal, Vijay Yesudas, Rahul Nambiar, Naresh Iyer, Ranjith, Krish and Karthik set the stage on fire. Singers Shwetha Mohan, Sumangali, Madhumitha, Charulatha, Srilkekha Parthasarathy, Suchithra and Mahathi also proved they’re no less equal than the professional models.
The fashion show was organised to announce the second edition of Meera Isaiaruvi Tamil Music Awards ’09, by Social Media. The awards pay tribute to the most popular songs and albums of the year 2008-09 in all avenues of music including Tamil cinema, carnatic and folk music. The show also had actress and lyricist Rohini, music director James Vasanthan along with the singers of Kangal Irundhal fame walking the ramp.
“The Tamil music industry is one of the largest contributing industries in terms of music. Last year, in our promotional on-ground, SMS and online voting, we received almost two lakh votes and we expect the same kind of response this year too. Our promotional van will travel across 21 cities,” said Sujit Kumar, director, Social Media. The Tamil Music Awards also include categories for the best choreography, direction, conceptualisation, picturisation and performance of songs.
The promotional van will travel across the state starting from Puducherry and then to Salem, Erode, Tirippur, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Tirunelvelli, Tuticorin and Trichi among other cities. The first vote was cast by actress Kushboo.
Adding more excitement, Meera will conduct ‘Meera Ganakuyil Poti’ to aspiring singers across the state. Two talented winners will get an oportunity to perform live at the Tamil Music Awards, which will be held at Nehru Stadium on July 11.
