Since inspiration doesn’t always come with a warning bell, there’s a chance that your artistic creativity may get shadowed in the darkness of the night. And as an artist himself, Shihan Hussaini couldn’t risk that. “There were so many times when I would want to work on a sculpture but there would be no space,” says Shihan Hussaini who has started a the studio. “For an artist, continuity is very important while working on a creation and my studio facilitates just that,” smiles the man who is proud of his new offering.

For Hussaini, this seems like a perfect way to “Fill the void felt in the art circles in the city.” A trained artist himself, after 30 years of practicing karate he decided to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in art. Years of engaging in his creative pursuits landed him with a gold medal in painting and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in painting and an MFA in sculpting too. And it was in the midst of all this that he conceptualized and set up this studio in Kalakshetra colony.

“This is one place which is open to any artist in the city who wishes to use it,” says Hussaini as he shows us around the studio that is housed in the same building as his gallery. Largely used by his art students, the space however is open to anyone in the city who needs a place to unleash their creativity at any point of time in the day or night.

The studio is located at T- 16/2, Coastal Road, Kalakshetra Colony, Besant Nagar.
