CHENNAI: The 2009 Dr Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar award was conferred on Tamil scholar and eminent personality in the filed T P Sidhalingayya for his outstanding contribution to and promotion of Tamil language and literature.

While the Dr M A Chidambaram Chettiar award was conferred on noted archaeologist R Nagaswamy, the Dr A C  Muthiah award for achievement as a first generation entrepreneur was shared by R Sarabeswar, chairman and CEO, Consolidated Construction Consortium Ltd, a leading construction company and S Sivaramakrishnan, its managing director.

Justice Shanmughasundaram Mohan gave away the awards.The awards comprise Rs 1 lakh in cheque and a citation.
