CHENNAI: Have you ever wished to learn the basic sciences and understand the concepts in a way that they remained with you lifelong?

International Tamil Language Foundation, based in the US, along with the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre, has brought to TN a 52-week (once a week) programme through which you will now be able to appreciate the beauty of Physics and the elegance of Maths.

“What we are offering is a multi-media experience through a series of sessions that will help you get your basics right. These DVD based learning were created in English originally by the Annenberg Foundation that has been converted into various languages for convenience. The idea of offering it in Tamil is to be able to reach the mass of students who are studying in Tamil medium schools. However, it does not restrain a housewife, an IIT grad or any student from any walk of life for that matter, from participating in the sessions.

The idea is to open their eyes to science and be able to grasp it for their own good in the future,” explains AI Rammohan the key person behind this programme. “Even though students study in English medium schools, their larger atmosphere around them influences them to think in Tamil. So they learn science in the language they think they grasp the concepts quicker,” he added.

The first session will kickstart on Monday at the TN Science and Technology Centre between 3pm and 6pm. The first series of 52 sessions are being offered free of cost and include 13 hours of Newtonian mechanics and 13 hours of quantum mechanics. Interested to join?
