CHENNAI: Rajinikanth’s birthday turned out to be a low-key affair with the superstar having left Chennai on Saturday night for the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad. But, apart from the fact that their idol was not present to meet them at his Poes Garden residence, Rajini fans’ spirits were not dampened.
Various fan clubs organised charity meals for poor people. A particularly big gathering took place at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam in T Nagar, where 500 people were fed.
Some autorickshaw stands were decked up for the occasion and played songs from Rajini films on loudspeakers. Posters congratulating Rajinikanth on his birthday were also seen at some traffic intersections.
Also, CM M Karunanidhi on Sunday greeted Rajinikanth on his 61st birthday over phone, said an official press release. In the end, it was a quiet birthday for Rajini in Chennai this year.
