God and I — The Relationship

I look upon God as my father, mother, brother, friend and guru, who guides me and loves me unconditionally for whatever I am.

I worship him, admire him, love him, trust him and have faith in him. When I pray, I reflect on my deeds and ask for his guidance in whatever I do or plan to do. To me, every day is a miracle. Each day is a gift from him to do things I have set out to do.

Favourite pilgrim spots

One of my favourite holy places is Nazerath (Jerusalem) and the Vatican. I go to the local church here, though I am not regular these days to the Sunday mass. If given a chance, I would ask to be born a Christian again.

Influences

My mother was a Hindu (a Brahmin) who converted just before her marriage. My mother familiarised me with Hinduism. I have been to temples with her and celebrate all Hindu festivals even to this day. I have a deep respect for Islam and its preaching, discipline and have many Muslim friends from whom I have learnt a lot about Islam. So, my parents have taught me to respect all religions and its teachings. I don’t know how much I have influenced others but I believe that I am a reflection of God himself.
