CHENNAI: Madras High Court ordered Central Crime Branch to investigate the fraudulent sale and purchase of land belonging to the Maxworth Orchards India Limited.

Delivering the order on a petition filed by the administrator seeking to restraint a buyer from interfering in any manner in possessing the company’s property, Justice P Jyothimani set aside the deal of selling of 24 acres of company’s land at Kollur, by a person who identified herself as the legal executive of the company. The judge also directed CCB’s Grabbing Cell, Thousand Lights, to launch a criminal investigation in to the deal.

The Maxworth Orachards India Limited Mahalingapuram, Chennai, which has approximately 20,000 acres of land, thousands of depositors who have invested in plantations, is under liquidation since 1998.
