CHENNAI: The detention of film director and Naam Tamilar Iyakkam leader S Seeman under the National Security Act (NSA) has been challenged in the Madras HC. Seeman was detained under the NSA by the orders dated July 16 this year of the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime-Headquarters). The charge against him was that he delivered a speech criticising the State government and the Indian army on the issue relating to Sri Lankam Tamils, in the city on July 10. He also induced the gathering to indulge in violence. In his habeas corpus writ petition, Seeman’s brother S James Peter of Virugambakkam contended that the detention order had been passed with mala fide intentions. It had been passed only with a view to oppressing the Naam Tamilar Iyakkam, headed by Seeman,  which was getting huge support all over the world.
