Devotional album launched
CHENNAI: Gambhira Gaanamani PP Venkat, a famous Tamil devotional and playback singer, released his latest devotional audio album on Lord Muruga titled Araharohara recently at Vani Mahal (Sri Thyaga Brahma Gaana Sabha).
The album was launched by lyricist Vaali and the copy was received by Mellisai Mannar M S Viswanathan, Supreme Star Sarathkumar and Trisakthi Sundara Raman.
This is Venkat’s ninth devotional album.
Araharohara is a collection of 12 devotional songs based on 18 Carnatic ragas.
PP Venkat has himself written, composed, set tunes and sung these songs and the music has been arranged by Music Director Regi Anand and Guru Peter Prakasam. Shobha Chandrasekar has rendered one song and Venkat’s daughter Deepa has also sung a song with him. Eminent personalities like Dr PB Srinivas, Shankar Ganesh, actors Delhi Ganesh, Sriman, Pandu, Music Director Sundar C Babu and Latha Rajinikanth together with many distinguished personalities graced the occasion.
PP Venkat started singing Tamil film songs at the tender age of 12 and was closely following the songs of his guru Dr TM Soundararajan.
Venkat has also performed in Singapore and Malaysia.
He is popularly known as “Bombay TMS” among music lovers of Mumbai and was conferred the title Gaanamani by a cultural organisation in Mumbai.
While releasing his devotional album in 2007 on various Hindu Gods, titled Bhakthi Aaradhanai, Violin exponent, Late Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan, conferred on him the title Gambhira Gaanamani.
PP Venkat recorded his first song as a playback singer for Director Thirumalai’s film Agam Puram.
The folk song, was penned by lyricist V Elango and its music director was Sundar C Babu.
Venkat lives with his family in Mumbai and due to his professional commitments, travels to Chennai on Sundays to complete his recording assignments.
Surprisingly, he records nearly ten songs a day.
Araharohara is a salutation to Lord Muruga.
Mythology says that Lord Muruga, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy, having denied the Sacred fruit, left Kailash and took abode in different mountains, which are called the Arupadai Veedus, all of which are located in Tamil Nadu. He performed several divine acts and slayed Sura Padman.
