CHENNAI: “I have people to feed me but what I really need is a family.” With tag lines like these, the Blue Cross’s adoption drive is sure to tug at your heart.
Titled the ‘Adoptathon’, the Blue Cross is organising an adoption camp at the CP Arts Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet, between 3pm and 6pm tomorrow (May 8) where about 30 pups and 20 kittens from their shelter will be available for adoption.
“The puppies are native non-pedigree breeds and have been given their initial (7-in-1) vaccinations. There is no adoption fee and only the immunisation cost must be borne by the family upon adoption, for which a vaccination card will be provided.
Several rescued kittens will also be available for adoption,” said Sathya Radhakrishnan, Honorary Joint Secretary of Blue Cross of India.
These pups had either been abandoned or rescued by the Blue Cross. Sathya says that they get on an average of ten pups every day.
“We used to organise these adoption drives once a year until last year but this year onwards we are planning to organise such a camp every month. People can also give these pups foster homes if not adopt them,” Sathya added.
Indian pups are more resilient than the pedigrees and hence make for better pets. Children coming for adoption must be accompanied by their parents, he added.
