Understanding of god

Though it is said that man is the architect of his destiny, god determines the shape of things. He is the ultimate master. However hard one tries to achieve, he fails despite his efforts and this can only be attributed to the hidden land of providence. Success of a person is still being guided by an unknown force and I view it in the name of god. To me god is definitely in good things that we do. God is full of love, empathy and equality. If we approach any situation in our lives with these parameters, we are sure of getting the best possible solutions.

Spiritual experience

More than idol worship, I get myself drenched in cosmic meditation, which is mind-blowing.

An internal cleansing in the early mornings can make a world of difference.

I’m a self-confessed Mylapore-buff. I go to the temples occasionally.

I love visiting the Kapaleeswarar temple on Sunday evenings.

It has an aura that attracts every passer-by in fact. The Sharadha temple and the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) in T Nagar are the power centers. Having said all these, I feel I belong to the human religion and I consider god as one. I visit the Santhome church and a famous dharga in Kovalam at least once in two months.

Spiritual practices

My spiritual practices always involve to a typical Brahmin family’s traditional things. Despite my busy schedule, I do all the spiritual practices with dedication that has taught me discipline. And these made me to excel.

Pilgrimage sites

Tirupathi is always my favourite. I have experienced a lot of divinity and power there. Recently, I got drenched in an extra- ordinary rain when I reached the shrine without taking bath. When people are waiting to see him for at least a minute, I stood before him for an hour, that too at a crucial phase of my life. In a way Balaji rocks! (It’s him, not me!)

(Balaji Venugopal is a Head – Brand Integrations for Hello FM. He is an RJ, VJ and has acted in films like Poi Solla Porom. Currently he is busy with Shankar’s Nanban)
