CHENNAI: Ten students performed their arangetram at a function organised to mark the 10th anniversary of Padmalaya held recently at the Narada Gana Sabha.

The event showcased the talent of the students of Padmalaya. The highlight of the event was an audio-video visual, which summarised the dance career of Padmalakshme Suresh.

The event was presided by Thenisai Thendral Deva, President, Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram. While mirudangam maestro Thiravarur Bhakthavatsalam was the Chief Guest, Kalaimamamani Ranganayaki Jayaraman (Guru of Padma) and Nandhini Ramani were the guests of honour.

Veteran dance guru and Sangeeth Natak Academy Awardee Indira Rajan and mirudangam artiste Kalaimamani Nellai D Kannan.

The school focusses on the essential values of life.

The school director, who intends to use art as a medium of service to the society, plans to start a separate wing of Padmalaya to serve underprivileged students pursuing their education in Corporation schools.

The school’s aim is to make art accessible to the down-trodden sections, who  cannot afford it.

Poplular artistes such as Kalaimamani (vocal) Radha Badri, Innisai Mani (vocal), Chitrambari Krishnakumar (vocal), Vedha Krishnaram (mirudangam), Violin Proffessor Vijayarahavan, and AN Bhayalakshmi (flute) performed at the tenth anniversary celebrations of Padmalaya.
