Chairman of Central Water Commission Rajesh Kumar will be delivering the 29th Dr M Visvesvaraya Memorial Lecture here on Monday.
Kumar will be delivering the lecture on National Water Mission for Adaptation to Impacts of Climate Change on Water Resources at the conference hall at the Institution of Engineers (India) Tamil Nadu State Centre.
The Public Works Department of Tamil Nadu created the Endowment Fund in the name of famous engineer and statesman Dr M Visvesvaraya in 1972 for conducting lectures on matters allied to irrigation and Hydrology, said former engineer-in-chief Water Resources Department Tamil Nadu and director of State Water Resources Management Agency S S Rajagopal.
Kumar, who is also in-charge of overall planning and development of river basins including integrated river basin planning and development, monitoring of storage position of important reservoirs, application of remote sensing technologies in water resources, water rights and interstate disputes, water use efficiency, issues related construction machinery planning, evaluation and manpower planning aspects and silting of reservoirs, will be sharing his experiences with the state engineers during the event.
Rajagopal said that the decision to invite Kumar, who has a vast experience in dealing with planning, development and management of water resources in the country, was taken as he has served in various capacities and has been an asset to the country.
