“The world is small, but your dedication and skills are as high as the sky. You are a star that lightens the young world.” That was the note written on the certificates given to children who participated in competitions as part of a cultural exchange programme organised recently by the Karnalaya Social Service Society and Children’s Skill Development Programme (CSDP), Srilanka.
CSDP is a voluntary organisation working in Srilanka, amongst children to develop their creative skills. “As part of collaborative efforts to strengthen the friendly relationship between the children of two countries, leadership workshop and cultural exchange programme was organised,” said N Paul Sunder Singh, Secretary of Karunalaya, which currently shelters 47 destitute children.
Ratna Pushpa Kumari, Director, CSDP, Colombo headed 15 teachers from Srilanka. He said, “I am very much impressed by the children here. As part of the exchange programme, we had discussions with the Indian teachers about different ways of teaching.”
District Social Welfare Officer Revathy gave away prizes to the winners. Also, traditional sweets were distributed to the Karunalaya kids by the Srilankan team.
