

The Central government has planned to invest Rs 50,000 crore to increase the number of business schools across the country, said Subodh Kant Sahai, Union Tourism Minister, during the fourth convocation of SMOT School of Business recently.
Delivering the convocation address, the Union Tourism Minister said, “The growth of the global economy is going down. So to strengthen it, the students should concentrate more in choosing their career as entrepreneurs.”
Also the government has planned to increase the number of business schools with an investment of `50,000 crore. More faculty members are needed to equip these candidates, he said.
The business schools should not concentrate on increasing the amount of degree holders, focussing instead on producing the best academic products.” Fifteen students received their graduation certificates and Sriram S was awarded as overall batch topper.
Professor Colin Dodds, President and Vice-Chancellor, Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Canada and Marie Claude mallet, Vice Consul and Trade Commissioner, Consulate of Canada, Chennai and Habib Ahjmed, Chairman, SMOT, School of Business, Chennai, were present during the occasion.
Dr Colin Dodds highlighted the extreme importance of higher education in management and studies in the present scenario.
