When we pray to god to give us the good things of life, he says, “My dear child, I have given you the most priceless treasure called purity. It is right inside you. Bring it out and I will come and live in your heart forever. Then all the best things in life will flow to you on their own.”

So, my dear friend, close your eyes and resolve, “I will always keep my mind calm and stable. I will do everything to protect this great treasure called purity within me. I will heighten my awareness through meditation and uproot the qualities of inertia and expectation. I will re-establish purity within and invite god into my heart.” As you enjoy the peace and prosperity that your purity attracts, let us go on to find out how your purity can be further refined and defined by eating the right kind of food to assist you in meditation. As you now sit and meditate to bring out your inner purity, you will understand yourself better. Understanding also means realising. Realisation means expansion of the mind and heart from ordinary, mundane thoughts to a higher state of thinking.

Choosing the right food for Meditation: My dear friend, you have now understood how precious the purity inside you is. When you cherish it, it protects you. When you nourish it, it nurtures you. Your purity makes you naturally expansive and meditative. You have realised that there are many activities and tendencies which dilute this purity and plunge you into the undesirable modes of inertia and expectation. Inertia and expectation shackle you to the ego, generate fresh karma and throw you open to the exchange of negative energy and karma with others. Purity establishes you in selflessness and whatever you do becomes beneficial to all beings. It becomes the armour to protect you from negative energy and karma of others and connects you to the divine core in everybody. It also connects you to your own divine core called the soul and ushers in peace, success, divinity and prosperity to your life.

Today, let us look at these three qualities from another angle. Our success or failure in any field, be it is personal, professional, domestic, social, political or spiritual — depends upon which quality is predominant in us. This quality is enhanced or depleted by the attitude we cultivate and activities we engage in. In addition to this, the relative proportion of the three qualities in us is also decided by the kind of food we eat. My friend, this may surprise you, but it is true. Yes, the food we eat every day plays a major role in determining the quality of our lives.—
