Almost four months after a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus careened off the Anna flyover, injuring several persons, the transport authorities on Wednesday dismissed the driver of the ill-fated bus from service.

The driver, Prasad, was served with the dismissal order by post, official sources said. “We are yet to receive any  acknowledgement from him (the driver) on the dismissal order. The communication was sent last week,” an official added.

When asked about the charges against Prasad, official sources claimed that he was allegedly involved in a couple of accidents during his stint with the MTC,  including the one at Anna flyover. Several passengers commuting by an MTC bus  route number 17M (Broadway - Vadapalani) were injured, after the vehicle plunged into the service road off the arterial Anna Flyover on June 27.
