Top Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan kept music lovers in the city spellbound at an event titled ‘Sunidhi Chauhan Live in Concert’, presented by The New Indian Express and Apollo Hospitals, at the Music Academy on Wednesday.
Chauhan took the audience on a roller-coaster ride, as she belted out hits from recent Bollywood flicks. Beginning with Crazy Kiya Re from Dhoom 2, the versatile artiste alternated between foot-tapping music and soft romantic numbers like Mera Ishq Sufiyana. The highlights included Ti Amo, Beedi Jalayle, Halkat Jawaani, Yaariyan and the audience favourite, Sheela ki Jawaani.
Seasoned performer that she is, Chauhan made the gathering groove to her music. Each song elicited a huge round of applause from the audience that was visibly enthralled.
Taking stage at the jam-packed venue, the singer said, “I am not new to this city and I am always happy to perform in Chennai. You people are so aware and informed when it comes to music. I love you people.”
Chauhan was joined by Indian Idol Season 5 final round participant Rakesh Maini, who performed duets with her like Chokra Jawaan, apart from rendering singles like Tera Sajda and Tum Mile.
The emcee for the event was Ravi Raj, who kept the crowd entertained with his snappy one-liners and had them in splits with his mimicry and well-timed trivia. And, the concert kept the promise it made to the audience – a mind-blowing experience like never before.
