

Chairman of Lee Royal Meridian Palani Periasamy was given The Life Time Achievement Award by Saveetha University chancellor Veeraiyan on their 26th Founder’s Day celebrations held at M M Convention Centre, Saveetha University, recently.
Palani G Periasamy, an educationalist and industrialist, began his teaching career in 1962 as a lecturer in Economics at PSG Arts College and culminated as professor (tenured) in the University of Baltimore, Maryland.
As a student of the University of Madras, he received the Gopathly Mahadeva Chetty Gold Medal for Economics. He was adjudged the Outstanding Educator of America in 1974 and 1975. He has also received awards for entrepreneurship like Best Entrepreneur Award, Dr A C Muthaiah Award including the “Iconic Trailblazer Award”.
He founded the PGP Educational and Welfare society, which has established colleges and schools in Tamilnadu. He is the Chairman of many business concerns such as the Appu Hotels Limited, Chennai, which trail blazes two Five Star Deluxe Hotels — Le Royal Meridien Chennai and Le Meridien Coimbatore and Dharani Sugars and Chemicals Limited.
He has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Rwanda for Chennai from this year.
