The Chennai Counselors’ Foundation  (CCF) organised a seminar on Tuesday on the Role of professional counselors in academic institutions, at the MOP Vaishnav College for Women recently.

“The prime objective of this seminar is to sensitise academicians and academic institutions on the role and the need for professional counselors in these institutions,” said Saras Bhaskar, Co Founder of the CFF.

The seminar was attended by principals/representatives of 23 of the city’s institutions and had three eminent panelists from both academia and the field of psychology speaking on the role that professional counselors play in the field of education.

Nirmala Prasad, former Principal of MOP Vaishnav College, and one of the panelists, said that teachers, who did a lot of counseling themselves, were not completely equipped to handle some problems that cropped up from time to time.
