

Tata Motors is trying to grab a sizeable share in the utility vehicles segment, with the launch of sport utility vehicle Tata Safari Storme.
Addressing reporters after the launch of Tata Safari Storme, Tata Motors Limited head utility vehicle product group Asesh Dhar and regional manager of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala Passenger Car Business Unit, K Vijay Menon said that with the launch of the vehicle Tata motors wanted a big share in the utility vehicle segement which sold around 800-1,000 units a month.
The vehicles are likely to be sold at 10 locations in city and its surrounding areas.
The vehicle, which was launched in the North in October 2012, is targeting the younger segment, who are waiting for more than a regular sedan or a hatchback, said Menon.
Interestingly, the launch of Tata Safari Storme also comes in the wake of the launch of another sport utility vehicle Renault Duster. But Tata officials say Tata Safari Storme is an all terrain vehicle and has been a iconic brand in Tamil Nadu. “It is a refined beast delivering a performance of 0-100 km per hour in under 15 seconds and is fuel efficient one. The vehicle boasts of best in class turning circle radius of 5.4 metres, making driving and manuevring in tight confines absolutely easy,” says Dhar.
The vehicle which comes with a warranty of three years or 100,000 km, whichever is earlier, extendeable upto four years or 150,000 km. The prices start from `9.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). The range is available in four variants and seven colours.
