Strongly condemning what it called vulgar portrayal of Goddess Amman in Tamil film Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya, the Hindu Mahasabha on Sunday staged a protest here and urged the producers to remove the scene. Speaking to Express, its president Veer Vasanthakumar alleged that the woman attired as Goddess Amman was making inappropriate body movements in the song sequence. “This is outrageous and unacceptable. It is no doubt a demeaning and contemptuous portrayal of Goddess Amman, worshiped by millions of people the world over,” he charged.

Urging the producers of the film - actor Santhanam’s Handmade Films and Rama Narayanan’s Thenandal Films - to voluntarily delete those offending scenes from the film, the Hindu outfit leader said they would be constrained to file a writ plea in the court if it was not done. Santhanam starrer Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya that released on Pongal Day has already kicked up a row over its storyline.
