On the occasion of World Environment Day, Mollywood stars Mohanlal and Suresh Gopinath planted saplings at The Leela Palace premises in the presence of its General manager, Pascal Dupuis.

The sapling plantation process at the luxury hotel, which saw the distribution of more than 250 saplings among the visitors by the general manager himself, was arranged so as to spread the need for a greener world. Lending a hand to this noble cause, Mohanlal who has already planted four million trees on various occasions commented, “A tree is like a baby, our part is not completed by just planting it, it has to be nurtured and well taken care of.” He expressed his happiness at being a part of the initiative which he termed to be ‘noble and genuine’

Sharing similar sentiments, Gopinath added, “I would like to encourage the youth in making the earth a greener planet.” Congratulating Dupious for the initiative taken by the hotel, he also promised to lend his support in to future events.

Thanking both the guests, Dupuis said, “This is a moment of privilege to have  Mohanlal and Suresh Gopinath support us in this cause and I would like to thank both of them for their participation. Our constant drive at The Leela Palace Chennai is to encourage inclusive growth. In the past, we have organised several such initiatives viz cleanliness drives, sapling plantation drives among others and we will continue to work towards fostering a cleaner and a greener environment in the near future.”

Stressing on the hotel’s culture to create a socially responsible environment, Dupuis further added, “It is the vision of our Founder Chairman, Capt CP Krishnan Nair, who is an environmentalist himself, to make optimum utilisation of renewable source of energy to minimise the hazards and make the planet a greener place to live in.”
