Get set for some scintillating performances by professionals from across the world, at the Music Academy for five days beginning Wednesday.
After 2010, Extra Terrestrial, an international group of acrobatic performers, has made a come back to Chennai with more exciting stunts for the audience.
This entertainment show, presented by Tango Brand and Show Space, proved its worth among the huge crowd at the preview on Thursday at the Music Academy.
“It is encouraging to see such a big crowd at a preview. We have worked hard to bring this to Chennai, where not many options are available for families to visit shows together. Our event will entertain every section in the city,” said Hariharan, Director of Tango.
The organisers promise that the show will be a unique combination of new-age circus and performances based on illusions and technology.
The show features nine performances selected out of 75 and will have acrobats, illusionists, laser artists, unicyclists, balancing act professionals and more.
These performers are the best in their field with unique styles of their own.
“I am performing for eight years now and as far as Cyr Wheel is concerned, I have always made sure that I keep a distinct style for myself, which ultimately stands out,” says Valerie Inertie, a Cyr Wheel artist, who mesmerised the audience while manoeuvring the wheel.
These acts require immense concentration from all sides, especially the performers.
This might remain a challenge in India as it was evident during the preview, when the performers were distracted at the slightest of noises, like the constant whining of kids throughout the show. Despite all that, they gave their best.
“Initially, it was difficult to maintain concentration and I took some extra time for it. But once I made contact with the audience, the noises slowly drowned. I hope I would get used to it before the main show,” said Naima Rhyn Rigolo, a world-famous Sanddornbalance–stick balance professional from Switzerland.
According to Hariharan, these disturbances did not matter much for the performers after seeing the joyous faces of the children in the audience who were enthralled by the show.
The five-day event, however, will not admit kids below the age of three in order to avoid distractions for both the audience and the performers.
Apparently, the preview was meant for a social cause – donations for children with disabilities. There were several students from 19 special schools headed by the United Way of Chennai.
